GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

Today we took Lexi to her meet and greet for soccer. We met her coach, Coach Jason, and she got her jersey. She had her pick of the numbers 1, 2, 3, or 5. She chose 5. Why? Because she is 5 years old of course! All the kids donned in their jerseys kind of milled around not know what to do. The purpose was to get to know each other, but some kids were kicking balls while others were begging their parents to go home (Lexi was one of these at first) and others just stared blankly around at all the other kids that were wearing shirts just like theirs.

After a little while, Lexi separated herself from us and took off with a soccer ball and off she went! Once she got going you could not stop her. There were times when Stefan (who was supposed to be the one watching her because I was watching Abby) would ask me where Lexi was. I would look around panicked until I saw her dribbling the ball half-way across the field.

After the meet and greet we took the girls to McDonald's. While Stefan was getting the food order handled I got the girls situated in the playroom. I allowed Lexi to play on the mammoth contraption with the understanding that if I had to tell her twice to come eat, her toy from her happy meal would become mine. No problems there. She wanted the toy. It was there that Stefan and I decided that since the rest of the kids on Lexi's team were wearing cleats (although they are not required) that we would get her a pair, too. We went to Hibbett Sports and got her her new shoes although they weren't exactly the ones she wanted because the were not pink (they only had black in her size).

When we got home, Lexi went in the backyard (still wearing her #5 jersey) and started kicking around her pink, size 3 practice ball. She's been bitten by the soccer bug. Her first game is in 2 weeks. I can't wait. She'll be playing 4, 5, and 6 year olds so this should be darling!
